As a destination wedding photographer, I have the joy of documenting love stories in some truly beautiful places—and Tina and Max’s wedding weekend on Daniel Island Club was one I’ll never forget. Tucked just outside of Charleston, Daniel Island is peaceful and picturesque, with marsh views, mossy oaks, and that slow, Southern charm that instantly sets the tone for a heartfelt celebration.
I flew in to photograph both their rehearsal dinner and wedding day, and from the moment I arrived, it was clear how deeply personal and meaningful this weekend was—not just for Tina and Max, but for their families too.
One of the most special touches? Tina’s mom, Judi, designed the entire wedding. Every detail, from the lush florals at the ceremony to the elegant tablescape at the reception, reflected her eye for timeless design and her love for her daughter. You could feel her heart in every element.
Tina got ready surrounded by her bridesmaids in a soft, light-filled space. She wore a modern, minimalist gown that fit her like a glove, and her sheer veil flowed so beautifully in the breeze. Her bridesmaids, in pale greens and muted tones, held classic bouquets of white roses and baby’s breath—elegant, clean, and quietly stunning.
Max wore a classic black tux and waited on the lawn for their first look. When Tina walked up behind him, veil sweeping behind her, it was one of those quiet, emotional moments that I love to capture. They laughed, they hugged, they took it all in—just the two of them in that little pocket of time.
Their ceremony overlooked the marsh just before golden hour, with glowing light filtering through the trees. White florals framed the altar in a soft, organic way, and guests sat on the lawn, soaking in the love. Tina’s veil caught the wind as she said her vows to Max, and it felt both cinematic and deeply personal.
Shooting a big part of the wedding on 35mm film brought out so much emotion and texture—it felt like the perfect medium for such a sentimental day. The grain, the softness, the light leaks—it all added to the nostalgic, editorial feel of the weekend.
Tina and Max, thank you for inviting me into your love story and for bringing me to Daniel Island. And Judi, your vision and thoughtfulness created such a beautiful space for it all to unfold. It was truly a dream to photograph.
